
The Tate Gallery opened in St Ives in 1993 and although it has no permanent collection, it bases its exhibitions on the works of contemporary artists. The St Ives Museum houses a fascinating insight into the towns 200 year history. Situated near Porthgwidden Beach near the harbour is portrays St Ives tin making industry, fishing history and lifeboat service.
The Sloop Inn is one of Cornwall’s oldest dated 1312 and is found right on the harbour front, retaining its charm and character, it is listed in the Good Beer Guide, worth a visit for meals or just a pint.
The Dolly Pentreath is an exact replica of a 100 year old Cornish lugger used for fishing and smuggling but will now take you on boat trips to Seal Island and around St Ives Bay or private fishing trips.
The St Ives Leisure Centre has a 25m pool as well as a childrens pool with slide and bubble jets. A modern fully equipped gym is also available where casual membership can be arranged.
Paradise Park is close by on the main road out of St Ives to Hayle and is home to the World Parrot Trust as well as otters, squirrels and birds, Superb gardens and fun for children.
